FA Cup Replays to Remain in Place for 2023-24 Season
Mandatory Replays Up to Fourth Round
The Football Association (FA) has confirmed that mandatory replays will be in place for games that end in draws up to and including the Fourth Round of the FA Cup in the 2023-24 season.
Fourth Round to Mark Shift to One-Off Matches
The Fourth Round of the FA Cup will also feature replays. However, from the Fifth Round onwards, the competition will revert to one-off matches, with extra time and penalties used to determine the winner if necessary.
FA Cup Replays on Borrowed Time
While replays remain in place for the Third Round this week, their future in the competition is uncertain. The FA has hinted that replays may be phased out in the future, but for now, they remain an integral part of the FA Cup tradition.
